Gold Coast tourism attractions will be the star of screens across Australia from next week, reminding Australians to book a trip to the nation’s playground this summer.
Minister for Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and the Commonwealth Games Jann Stuckey said the promotion built on the blockbuster Gold Coast “And Action” campaign launched earlier in the year.
Gold Coast “And Action” is a Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) and Gold Coast Tourism marketing initiative designed to highlight the Gold Coast’s ‘Famous for Fun’ holiday experiences.
“The second installment, supported by Gold Coast Airport and Jetstar, will screen from next week through until November drawing on the energy and excitement of a Gold Coast holiday through a series of TV, digital, outdoor and print ads,” Ms Stuckey said.
“More than 60 tourism operators will showcase products in the campaign, presenting the Gold Coast as a fun, vibrant and energetic holiday destination.
“The campaign will once again target key interstate markets of Sydney and Melbourne as well as Cairns, Adelaide and local Brisbane residents with competitive airfares and holiday packages, available for travel until June 2014.”
Ms Stuckey said the Gold Coast remained a favourite holiday destination amongst Australians during the past financial year, welcoming more than 2.2 million holidaymakers, an increase of 12 per cent on the year prior.
“The Gold Coast proved a particularly popular choice amongst Sydney siders with the number of holidaymakers from the city increasing 64 per cent to 383,000,” she said.
“The campaign aims to continue this momentum and sees industry working together in a bid to capture the attention of Australian holidaymakers in the lead-up to summer.”
Gold Coast Tourism CEO Martin Winter said the Gold Coast would be top-of-mind for Australian holidaymakers this summer as the tourism capital’s famous products and experiences were promoted in partnership by TEQ and GCT.
“The city’s $4.5 billion tourism industry is expecting a bumper summer season with classic weather, fantastic events, new attractions and great deals all part of the Gold Coast fun this year,” Mr Winter said.
Ms Stuckey said tourism was one of the four pillars of the Queensland economy and the campaign was one of many initiatives supported by the Government to help reach the goal of $30 billion in overnight visitor expenditure by 2020.
